An approach to an irregular site in an a regular suburban environment

The home needed to be cost effective for a young expanding family in a rising housing market. The building was designed to have a central core built with all architectural screens and hoods to be slowly built and added on by the client and his father over time. This staged build made the mortgage significantly lower and enabled the client to have ownership in the creation of their home.

The house is designed to take full advantage of the site with an inside outside approach to a courtyard rather than a backyard. The block is a small lot size, so light, privacy and breezes were a priority
